I was in Circuit City today and I noticed something strange. The aisles of cds had dwindled down to just a few. Well, duh, I know, people buy and steal most their music online. No reason to waste space on them . . .
So much for cutting school and going to NYC to buy records/cds. My first time I remember coming up from the subway at Christopher Street and going to a dingy basement shop called 99 Records . . . then off to Bleeker Bobs, and to the various stores on Eighth Street and St. Marks Place. Or as tike–walking over a mile to Our Music Center–then within weeks after getting my drivers license, stealing off to Vintage Vinyl in Fords, NJ.
Now like many other things in life, music is just a click of the mouse away. Oh well.
